1969-72 BSc (Hons) Physiology & Biochemistry and 1972-75 PhD at University of Southampton. From 1975, until retirement in 2008, worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry (research and development of novel medicines and research operations), with over 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books. 1975-81 Pfizer Central Research, Sandwich, working on novel antihypertensives. 1981-95 Wellcome Research Laboratories, Beckenham, working on novel antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, serotonin agonists, nitric oxide and digoxin antibodies, and the pharmacological profiles of novel medicines. 1995-2000 GlaxoWellcome Research, Stevenage, leading Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Nervous pharmacology groups evaluating the pharmacological profiles of novel medicines in vivo. 2000-08 GlaxoSmithKline Research, Stevenage, Operations Manager for the Immuno-Inflammation CEDD. In addition to Fellowship (ongoing), and committee member of the In Vivo Group, of the British Pharmacological Society, was also an active member of the British Hypertension Society, Cardiovascular Society, and Serotonin Club, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the School of Biosciences at University of Birmingham.
